What they need
Assistant Director | Faith-Based Early Childhood Education
Position Overview
Hillcrest Children’s Academy is seeking a motivated, dependable, and experienced Assistant Director to join our leadership team. We are a Christian, faith-based preschool committed to providing a loving, safe, and enriching environment where children can grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually while learning about Jesus Christ.
We are looking for more than someone who can complete administrative tasks. We need a proactive, hands-on leader who thinks quickly, learns quickly, works well with others, solves problems, and takes initiative without always waiting for direction.
The ideal candidate is someone who notices what needs to be done, thinks ahead, brings creative ideas to the table, and takes ownership of responsibilities. They should be comfortable moving between classrooms, supporting teachers, communicating with parents, managing daily operations, and completing administrative work.
The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to maintain a positive school culture, strengthen classroom quality, support staff development, and ensure the school operates smoothly and consistently.
We are looking for someone who is not afraid to jump in, get their hands dirty, help wherever needed, and lead by example. The right person will be a team player who brings a positive attitude, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to help our school continue to grow.
Primary Responsibilities

- Help train new employees and communicate classroom expectations.
- Provide hands-on classroom assistance when staffing or classroom needs arise.
2. Problem-Solving, Critical Thinking, and Initiative
- Anticipate problems and address concerns before they become larger issues.
- Identify staffing challenges, supply shortages, and classroom needs before being asked.
- Remain calm, flexible, and solution-oriented during challenging situations.
- Communicate significant concerns to the Director promptly.
3. Daily Operations and Administration
- Assist with staffing schedules, classroom coverage, and maintaining required child-to-caregiver ratios.
- Support morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up by greeting families, monitoring staffing, and assisting classrooms as needed.
- Oversee daily operational needs and help ensure the school runs smoothly.
- Monitor classroom supplies, sanitation materials, curriculum resources, and general organization.
- Balance administrative work with an active presence throughout the school.
4. Teamwork, Communication, and Leadership
- Work closely with the Director and staff to accomplish school goals.
- Communicate professionally with teachers, parents, leadership, and other stakeholders.
- Check in with staff regularly, follow up on concerns, and help resolve challenges.
- Support employee training, professional development, and consistent implementation of school policies.
5. Christian Mission, Curriculum, and School Improvement
- Support and uphold the Christian mission and values of Hillcrest Children’s Academy.
- Help create a loving, respectful, and faith-centered environment where children can learn about Jesus Christ.
- Support developmentally appropriate curriculum and engaging classroom activities.
- Help teachers create organized, stimulating learning environments.
- Identify opportunities to improve school policies, procedures, and daily routines.
- Model kindness, integrity, patience, professionalism, and servant leadership.
- Help maintain a school culture where children, families, and staff feel valued and supported.
