About the Opportunity

Are you a strong leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems, and helping a business grow? Dogtopia of Golden Valley and Dogtopia of Bloomington are looking for an Assistant District Manager to help lead operations across both locations.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager who is ready to take the next step in their leadership career. You will work closely with the District Manager and Owner to support daily operations, develop location leadership teams, improve business performance, and ensure our teams consistently deliver a safe, positive, and high-quality experience for the dogs in our care and their pet parents.

This role is ideal for someone who can balance people leadership with business performance—someone who holds themselves and others accountable, communicates effectively, takes ownership of challenges, and understands that strong results come from developing strong teams.

You will play a key role in supporting both locations, primarily through coaching and developing the Senior Shift Leads who help run each facility. Your work will directly influence team performance, operational consistency, revenue growth, and the overall success of both locations.

Key ResponsibilitiesMulti-Location Operations

• Oversee and support operations at Dogtopia of Golden Valley and Dogtopia of Bloomington.
• Conduct weekly store walkthroughs to evaluate operational execution, cleanliness, organization, and adherence to company standards.
• Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and established practices are consistently followed at both locations.
• Identify operational challenges, troubleshoot problems, and take ownership of issues through resolution.
• Respond to unexpected situations and help resolve day-to-day operational challenges.
• Complete additional operational responsibilities as assigned by the District Manager and/or Owner.

Leadership, Coaching & Team Development

• Coach, mentor, and develop Senior Shift Leads and other team members to strengthen leadership skills and improve performance.
• Support the development of location leaders who can confidently manage daily operations and lead their teams.
• Hold employees accountable to company expectations, performance standards, and established policies.
• Conduct coaching conversations, performance discussions, and employee write-ups when appropriate.
• Participate in interviewing and evaluating candidates to help build strong teams.
• Provide leadership support to employees at all levels, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Lead by example and demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity, and consistency.

Business Performance & Revenue Growth

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and help drive performance against established business goals.
• Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen overall location performance.
• Use numbers, trends, and performance results to identify issues and make informed decisions.
• Help ensure both locations meet company expectations and business objectives.
• Partner with the District Manager and Owner to implement improvements and support the continued growth of both locations.

Administrative & Employee Management

• Review employee timecards and make or coordinate appropriate adjustments to recorded hours.
• Support scheduling, staffing, and other workforce management needs as assigned.
• Address employee concerns and operational issues in a timely, professional, and solution-oriented manner.
• Communicate effectively with location leadership and senior management to keep both facilities running smoothly.

Pet Parent Experience

• Handle pet parent questions, concerns, and escalated conversations with professionalism and empathy.
• Help resolve service issues and identify opportunities to improve the pet parent experience.
• Reinforce the importance of providing a safe, welcoming, and dependable environment for the dogs in our care.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications

• Previous experience in store-level management, multi-unit management, or a comparable leadership role.
• Experience coaching employees, holding team members accountable, and having difficult performance conversations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfort working with numbers, reviewing business performance, and understanding key performance indicators.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
• Willingness to accept feedback, learn, and continuously improve.
• Ability to travel between Dogtopia of Golden Valley and Dogtopia of Bloomington multiple times per week.
• Availability to work a full-time schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.

Preferred Experience

• Multi-unit management experience.
• Experience developing supervisors, shift leads, or other emerging leaders.
• Experience interviewing candidates and supporting hiring decisions.
• Experience reviewing timecards, adjusting employee hours, and supporting workforce management.
• Experience with revenue goals, business performance metrics, and operational improvement.
• Experience in pet care, animal services, hospitality, retail, or another customer-focused business.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary: $55,000–$60,000 annually.

Schedule & Travel

• Full-time position averaging approximately 40–45 hours per week.
• Some evening and weekend availability is required.
• Regular travel between Dogtopia of Golden Valley and Dogtopia of Bloomington is an essential part of the position.
• A vehicle allowance is provided to support travel between locations.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

The successful Assistant District Manager will build strong relationships with both location teams, develop capable and accountable leaders, and help create consistency across both facilities.

They will be proactive rather than reactive, able to identify problems before they grow, and confident enough to address difficult conversations while maintaining positive working relationships. They will understand the numbers behind the business, take ownership of results, and work collaboratively with the District Manager and Owner to improve performance.

Most importantly, they will understand that great operations start with great leadership—and that developing people is one of the most important parts of the job.
