Assistant Engineer

About the role

This role provides support across new product introduction, process engineering, technical assistance, and maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment. You will assist in coordinating NPI projects, optimising manufacturing processes, providing day-to-day technical support to production teams, and supporting quality and compliance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the coordination and execution of NPI projects, including design review, prototyping, and pilot runs
• Support validation activities to ensure new products meet quality, performance, and customer specifications
• Prepare and update work instructions, process flow charts, and control plans for new product launches
• Assist in developing, optimising, and standardising manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost control
• Monitor process parameters and recommend adjustments to maintain product quality
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues
• Provide day-to-day technical assistance to production teams to resolve machine or process problems
• Assist in the setup and trial runs of machines for new or modified processes
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimise downtime
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to resolve recurring equipment failures

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply; candidates with relevant manufacturing experience will have an added advantage.
• Preferably with experience or exposure in a manufacturing environment, particularly in metal fabrication, machining, CNC, stamping, or precision engineering.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, process improvement, machine setup, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of NPI, process validation, PFMEA, Control Plan, Work Instructions, and quality requirements is an added advantage.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Willing to work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
• Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and handle multiple tasks.
