Assistant Equipment Engineer

About the Role

The Associate Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment plays a vital hands-on role in supporting manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing production equipment. Working under the guidance of senior engineering staff, you will execute routine maintenance, assist with equipment qualifications, support tool deployment, and contribute to process improvement programs aimed at optimizing yield and line efficiency while ensuring a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: Perform routine, preventive, and predictive maintenance (PM/TPM) to keep machines operating smoothly and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Line Support & Downtime Recovery: Support Real-Time Problem Solving (RTPS) during line breakdowns and assist cross-functional teams in executing recovery strategies to manage line backlogs.
• Spare Parts & R&M Tracking: Assist in monitoring the Repair & Maintenance (R&M) budget by tracking spare parts inventory, monitoring component usage, and reporting obsolescence issues.
• NPI & Testing Support: Perform tool setup, testing, and component characterization to support New Product Introductions (NPI) and material validation trials.
• Documentation & Safety Maintenance: Update and maintain engineering documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and tooling records.
• Root Cause & Quality Support: Participate in 8D problem-solving teams for quality issues, assist with root-cause analysis, and help implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) following internal quality audits.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational efficiency, contributing to projects aimed at reducing downtime, improving yields, and minimizing scrap/waste.
• Technical Communication & Audit Support: Assist senior engineers with preparing status reports, test summaries, and customer service updates. Support team preparations for external customer audits (including Gap Assessments, CMQS, and PCL1/PCL2 reviews).

About You

• Experience: 1 to 2 years of hands-on technical or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (electronics or high-volume manufacturing preferred). Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience will also be considered.
• Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on technical experience).
• Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems, basic troubleshooting ability, and a collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional manufacturing teams.

Pay: RM3,200.00 - RM4,400.00 per month
