Assistant Estimator – Joinery & Fit Out

Location: Wigan and Manchester

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About Casana Interiors

Casana Interiors is a luxury, design-led furniture and interiors solutions business, creating high-quality spaces through thoughtful design, craftsmanship and attention to detail.

We deliver a range of FF&E, bespoke joinery and fit-out solutions across residential, hospitality and commercial projects, working from initial concept through to manufacture, procurement and installation.

The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Estimator to join our team in Wigan.

Working closely with the Estimating, Design, Procurement, Commercial and Contracts teams, you will support the preparation of estimates and tenders across FF&E, bespoke joinery, carpentry and interior fit-out packages.

This is a great opportunity for someone who already has some experience within estimating, joinery, carpentry, interiors or construction and is looking to develop their commercial and technical knowledge within a growing interiors business.

You will support the team with take-offs, supplier enquiries, pricing, tender reviews and cost schedules, while gaining exposure to a broad range of high-quality residential and hospitality projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of cost estimates for FF&E, bespoke joinery, carpentry and fit-out packages.
  • Assist with material and quantity take-offs from drawings, schedules, specifications and project information.
  • Help prepare Bills of Quantities, cost schedules and tender information.
  • Support the pricing of items including fitted and loose furniture, furniture packs, bespoke joinery, doors, skirtings, architraves, staircases, fixtures and equipment.
  • Review drawings, specifications and FF&E schedules and raise any queries or potential scope gaps.
  • Send enquiries to suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractors and assist with comparing quotations.
  • Work with the wider team to ensure pricing reflects the correct specification, quality and project requirements.
  • Support the identification of value engineering opportunities and suitable alternatives.
  • Assist with tender submissions, client proposals and project handovers.
  • Help maintain pricing databases, supplier information, rate libraries and benchmark data.
  • Work closely with design, procurement, commercial and delivery teams throughout the estimating process.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of estimating templates, systems and processes.

Experience & Personal Attributes

Essential:

  • Some experience within estimating, construction, joinery, carpentry, interiors, FF&E or a related environment.
  • Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and working with detailed information.
  • Ability to read or develop the ability to interpret drawings, schedules and specifications.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
  • Confident communicator with a willingness to work with different teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Strong focus on quality and accuracy.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Estimator, Junior Estimator or Trainee Estimator role.
  • Knowledge of joinery, carpentry, FF&E or interior fit-out.
  • Experience carrying out quantity or material take-offs.
  • Experience working with suppliers or subcontractors.
  • Previous trade or site experience within joinery or carpentry.
  • Relevant construction, estimating, commercial or trade qualification.
  • Experience using estimating, project management or drawing review software.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Training and development with the opportunity to progress within estimating and commercial roles.
  • Exposure to high-quality residential and hospitality projects.
  • Opportunity to develop experience across FF&E, furniture, bespoke joinery, carpentry and fit-out.
  • A supportive team environment with the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues.
  • Long-term career development within a growing, design-led interiors business.
  • Opportunity to contribute ideas and help improve how Casana estimates and delivers projects.

Casana Interiors is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
