Assistant Finance Manager

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Treasury & Cash Flow Management

• Oversee daily and weekly cash position monitoring and ensure liquidity is aligned with funding priorities.

• Prepare and maintain short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts, updating for collections, disbursements, and funding events.

• Review and coordinate approved fund transfers with the Treasury & Cash Management Officer.

• Identify cash requirements, surpluses, and funding gaps, and recommend actions to optimize idle cash and manage shortfalls.

• Monitor loan drawdowns, repayments, interest schedules, and compliance with facility terms and covenants.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the annual budget process, including calendar, templates, guidelines, and consolidation of departmental inputs.

• Prepare the rolling forecast and scenario/sensitivity analysis to test business assumptions.

• Explain key variances, risks, and opportunities against budget and prior forecast.

• Coordinate with department heads to align operational plans with financial targets.

Business & Performance Analysis

• Analyze sales, gross margin, expenses, profitability, pricing, and cost drivers by product, customer, and channel.

• Evaluate business cases for capex, expansion, new products, customer profitability, cost savings, and investment decisions, including ROI, NPV, and payback.

• Track working capital — collections, inventory levels, supplier payment timing, and the cash conversion cycle — and recommend improvements.

• Provide ad hoc financial modeling and decision support for management initiatives.

Management Reporting

• Prepare KPI dashboards, budget-vs-actual analysis, and monthly business review packs.

• Deliver weekly and monthly performance commentary and financial insights to management and FMOC.

• Develop and maintain reporting templates and automate recurring reports where possible (e.g., within Odoo/BI tools).

• Present business cases and analysis to support leadership decisions.

Bank & Financial Institution Support

• Support the Senior Manager in meeting bank and financial-institution requirements and relationship management.

• Prepare cash projections, loan schedules, financial data, and documentation needed by banks, lessors, and lending institutions.

• Assist in evaluating financing options, credit lines, and banking products.

People & Function Leadership

• Supervise, coach, and develop the Treasury & Cash Management Officer.

• Deputize for the Finance & Accounting Senior Manager on finance matters as required.

• Contribute to process improvement, policy development, and finance system enhancements.

Control Responsibilities

• Uphold segregation of duties: Finance owns forward-looking planning while Accounting owns recording; ensure the two remain independent.

• Approve or endorse payment releases only against an approved payment list and within authorization limits.

• Ensure treasury activity is supported, documented, and reviewed; do not record accounting entries for transactions personally initiated.

• Escalate control exceptions, unusual transactions, and funding risks to the Senior Manager promptly.
