Assistant Financial Controller

Due to an internal promotion, the 5-star College Green Hotel Dublin, Autograph Collection, part of the MHL Hotel Collection and Marriott International, is seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team.

Main Purpose of the Job:

The Assistant Financial Controller manages the day-to-day operation of the Finance office. Primary responsibilities include Payroll, financial analysis and financial reporting, audit and control programs, asset & liability reconciliation and assisting Director of Finance with other duties as may be required.

What will I be doing?

• To assist in preparation monthly management accounts in an accurate and timely manner.
• To reconcile the balance sheet and ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation.
• To ensure that relevant financial reports presented are accurate and on time.
• Ensure monitoring and control of all sales revenue streams is carried out and integrity of all POS systems is maintained.
• To ensure Hotel payroll is processed in timely manner and all employees are paid correctly.
• To assist accounting staff in all facets of their day-to-day operations, to resolve queries where possible in a timely manner.
• To be responsible/accountable for all cash i.e. floats; cash transit procedures, safe/procedures, float spot checks etc.
• Oversee the collection and control of debtor accounts and to be the guardian of hotel credit policy, monitoring its implementation consistently.
• To oversee accounts payable ensuring vendor accounts are reconciled and suppliers paid in timely manner.
• To assist the External Auditor with annual financial audit and prepare adequately for same.
• Other duties as may be required.

Who Is Our Ideal Candidate?

• Previous experience in a senior Finance or Accounting role, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment
• A relevant accounting or finance qualification, or currently working towards a recognised professional qualification
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, controls and accounting processes
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
• A proactive, hands on approach and the confidence to take ownership of responsibilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments
• A collaborative approach with the ability to support and develop others
• High levels of professionalism, integrity and discretion
• Ability to perform effectively within a fast-paced hotel environment
