Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

The Assistant Financial Controller supports the Financial Controller in managing the finance function across all properties, ensuring accurate reporting, effective cost control, and full compliance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and income audit
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and variance analysis for all properties
• Lead month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, and audit preparation
• Support the annual budget, forecasts, and cash flow planning
• Monitor cost control for F&B, inventory, purchasing, and operating expenses across properties
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian tax and statutory requirements, including SST, Tourism Tax, and corporate tax
• Strengthen internal controls and SOPs, and conduct periodic checks at properties
• Supervise and develop the finance team, including property-level accounting staff
• Act for the Financial Controller when required

About you

• Degree in Accounting or Finance; professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or MIA) is an advantage.

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

• Hotel, resort, or hospitality finance experience is required.

• Experience with hotel PMS and accounting systems (e.g., Opera, Sun Systems, or similar).

• Strong analytical, reporting, and Excel skills.

• Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

• Willing to travel to properties, including remote, highland, and island locations.
