Assistant General Counsel, IP Strategy (Remote)

For our client, we are seeking a Assistant General Counsel IP Strategy (remote) to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a technology-driven environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $210,000 – $300,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a global patent prosecution strategy in line with product roadmap
• Identify critical innovations in partnership with Product and Engineering teams
• Make strategic decisions regarding patent filings based on business and competitive landscapes
• Utilize analytics to assess coverage gaps and guide investment decisions in IP
• Oversee global trademark portfolio management and clearance processes
• Advise on copyright ownership and registration involving software and technical documentation
• Implement AI-enabled workflows within the IP function to enhance efficiency

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership; registered in-house counsel in relevant state
• 15+ years of relevant IP experience with team management
• Extensive background in patent prosecution for software, SaaS, cloud, cybersecurity, and AI
• Expertise in managing global patent portfolios and filing strategies
• Demonstrated fluency in AI application in legal workflows
• Proven ability to manage significant budgets effectively
• Detail-oriented and operationally rigorous with a team-oriented mindset
