The Trevor Arms in Marford is undergoing an exciting £700,000 transformation, reopening towards the end of November as a quality, food-led destination gastropub.

With a completely refurbished restaurant and bar, brand-new kitchen, large outdoor beer garden and a menu built around elevated British pub classics, we're looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager to help us launch and run the new operation.

The Role

Working closely with the General Manager, you'll be their right hand in the day-to-day running of the business, with a particular focus on restaurant service, team leadership and the guest experience.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves being on the floor and knows how to run a great service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading busy restaurant services from the front
• Delivering consistently excellent customer service
• Managing and motivating the FOH team
• Managing reservations, table plans and service flow
• Running pre-service briefs and allocating sections
• Ensuring agreed service standards and procedures are followed consistently
• Dealing confidently with guest feedback
• Working closely with the kitchen to deliver a smooth service
• Supporting the bar operation when required
• Opening and closing the venue and completing management checks
• Supporting the GM with recruitment and staff training
• Taking full control of the venue in the General Manager's absence

While you'll have exposure to labour, stock, sales and other KPIs, this role has less emphasis on budgets and P&L. Your main responsibility is making sure the operation runs brilliantly.

About You

We're looking for someone with strong experience in a quality restaurant, gastropub or food-led pub environment.

You could already be an Assistant General Manager, or a strong Restaurant Manager or Deputy Manager ready for your next move.

You'll need to be:

• An excellent restaurant floor operator
• Confident leading a busy service
• Great with guests and teams
• Calm, organised and decisive under pressure
• Consistent with high attention to detail
• Comfortable following established systems and standards
• Confident taking complete responsibility for the site when required

Restaurant experience is particularly important, although a good understanding of bar and drinks operations is also required.

Salary & Package

£32,000 per annum + share of site TRONC

Potential on-site accommodation is also available and can be discussed with suitable candidates.

The successful candidate will ideally start mid-to-late October, allowing time for training and pre-opening preparation ahead of our planned end-of-November opening.
