About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager / General Manager, Human Resources to join our team at our campus located in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that plays a strategic and operational role within the university's Human Resources function.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies that align with the university's objectives, whilst managing the day-to-day HR operations. You will provide leadership to the HR team, drive organisational development initiatives, and ensure compliance with employment regulations and best practices in the higher education sector. This position is crucial to ensuring that Perdana University attracts, develops, and retains top talent.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive HR strategies and policies that support the university's mission and strategic goals
• Oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for academic and non-academic staff
• Manage employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters in accordance with relevant employment legislation
• Lead the design and delivery of training and development programmes to enhance staff capability and career progression
• Administer compensation and benefits programmes, ensuring competitiveness and compliance
• Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes engagement, diversity, and inclusion
• Provide strategic HR guidance to senior management on organisational development and workforce planning
• Manage HR budget allocation and control operational costs effectively
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian employment laws, university policies, and regulatory requirements
• Lead and mentor the HR team, providing direction, support, and professional development
• Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports on key HR metrics and analytics

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree is highly preferred
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5-8 years in a management or senior management role
• Proven experience in a higher education institution or similarly complex organisational environment
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian employment law and HR compliance requirements
• Excellent understanding of compensation and benefits administration
• Demonstrated expertise in recruitment, talent management, and organisational development
• Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams
• Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to translate HR strategy into operational execution
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
• Proficiency in HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Analytical mindset with the ability to work with HR data and generate meaningful insights
• Professional HR certification (such as CIPD, SHRM, or equivalent) is advantageous
