Assistant Geologist

Key Responsibilities

• Site Supervision: Coordinate and supervise land ground investigation works, including drilling, trial pits, and instrumentation installation.
• Geological Logging: Perform professional soil and rock description and logging in strict accordance with GEOGUIDE 3.
• Desk Studies: Conduct preliminary desk studies and geological map reviews.
• Reporting: Assist in processing field data, monitoring records, and drafting high-quality factual and technical reports.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise closely with drilling contractors, laboratory technicians, clients, and internal engineering teams to ensure safety, quality, and project progress.
• Laboratory work: The candidate is expected learn and assist day to day operations in the Soil & Rock laboratory.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related geoscience discipline.
• Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant experience. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. More experienced candidates (with Logging Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer status with DEVB) may be considered for a more senior post.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with logging software (e.g., gINT) or CAD software is an advantage.
• Language Skills: Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese).
• Attributes: Strong team spirit, willingness to work outdoors on site as well as office work, and a commitment to strict site safety standards.
