Assistant Golf Coach

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU ‌

The key principle of this job is to support ACU’s Mission to educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world. Responsible to the Head Men’s Golf Coach for coaching student-athletes and recruiting.

Basic Responsibilities

• Coaching and Teaching student-athletes
• Assist in all aspects of Recruiting
• Student-athlete development
• Social Media Coordinator
• Assist in fundraising efforts
• Other duties as directed by Head Men’s Golf Coach

Essential Duties

Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

Coaching and Teaching student-athletes

• Teach and instruct principles, skills and techniques of the game
• Teach and Develop mental skills of golf
• Teach and Develop spiritual and relational goals for golf student-athletes

Recruiting

• Evaluate potential golf student-athletes
• Recruit potential golf student-athletes via mail-outs, phone contacts, and personal visits on and off campus
• Establish and develop relationships with high school coaches, instructors, recruiting services, and other sources of potential golf student-athletes

NCAA Regulations

• Responsible for understanding NCAA rules for yourself and your student-athletes compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at Abilene Christian University. As a member of the athletics department staff, it is expected that you will have a full understanding of the NCAA rules that pertain to your position. It is also expected that you will comply with all NCAA rules, and if you become aware, or have reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred, you will immediately report it to the Director of Athletics or his/her designee.

Skills

• Adept interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Extensive knowledge of golf and coaching students
• Experience with creating digital content

Qualifications:

Professional

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
• Coaching experience
• Leadership or management experience

Personal

• Self-motivated, resourceful, and creative
• Strong communication and professional skills
• Ability to work and interact well with all levels of staff, faculty, and administration

Physical Demands

• Endure harsh weather conditions
• Able to demonstrate techniques used in golf
• Able to adapt to long, extended hours of travel and drive team van long distances
