Assistant Head – Alternative Provision

Are you an experienced Alternative Provision leader?

School of Outdoors is looking for an Assistant Head to help lead our growing Alternative Provision. If you've managed a busy caseload of young people and staff in AP, and you know what it takes to re-engage young people who are struggling in mainstream education, we'd love to hear from you.

Outdoor education is where we started, but our AP goes much further. Our progressive pathway supports young people across secondary and post-16, from 1:1 trauma-informed re-engagement through to structured learning, employability and Level 3 apprenticeships. Young people join at the stage that suits them and stay for as long as they need.

Working closely with our Head of School, you will:

• lead day-to-day operations across our programmes, including staff scheduling, monitoring and compliance
• support SEND and EHCP processes, attendance and welfare monitoring
• help embed trauma-informed, PACE-led practice
• deputise for the Head of School when needed.

What we offer:

• £45,000 per annum, plus a pension that grows with service
• full time (37.5 hours), with flexible working patterns
• based in High Wycombe, with travel to our other sites as needed and up to 3 days a week from home
• a permanent contract, with a clear route towards Head of School responsibilities.
