Assistant Head Bartender

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Head Bartender to join our team in the Central Region on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership position within our bar operations, working alongside our Head Bartender to deliver exceptional service and craft beverages to our discerning clientele. As Assistant Head Bartender, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of bartending excellence, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring our guests receive an unforgettable experience at every visit.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Bartender in overseeing daily bar operations and maintaining service excellence standards
• Prepare and serve a diverse range of cocktails, spirits, wines and beverages with precision and creativity
• Train, mentor and supervise junior bartenders and bar staff, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to company standards
• Monitor inventory levels, conduct stock takes and maintain accurate records of bar supplies and stock rotation
• Maintain exceptional standards of bar cleanliness, organisation and presentation at all times
• Manage customer interactions with professionalism and warmth, building strong relationships with regular patrons
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and licensing regulations relevant to bar operations
• Contribute to menu development and suggest innovative cocktail creations that align with our brand identity
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately, maintaining till reconciliation and financial accountability
• Support the Head Bartender with scheduling, staff coordination and operational problem-solving

What we're looking for

• Minimum 3 years of professional bartending experience in a high-volume, upmarket bar or hospitality environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of spirits, wines, liqueurs and cocktail preparation techniques
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and develop junior staff members
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• Proficiency in operating POS systems and bar management software
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and licensing regulations in the hospitality industry
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
• First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it
• Bartending qualifications or certifications (such as IBTM or equivalent) are highly desirable
• A genuine passion for mixology and creating memorable customer experiences
