Assistant HR Manager

Our client is seeking a Assistant HR Manager to join their team!
This is a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of HR operations across 10 retail outlets, with broad exposure to recruitment, employee relations, payroll, compliance, engagement and retention. Working closely with Store Managers and operations teams, the role offers meaningful scope to influence workforce needs and strengthen HR practices in a fast-paced retail environment.

What you'll be doing?

• Multi-outlet HR operations: Take ownership of HR operations and employee relations across 10 retail outlets, supporting consistent and effective people practices.
• Mass recruitment: Lead high-volume recruitment and onboarding for store-level positions, supporting timely workforce coverage.
• Payroll coordination: Manage and verify attendance, overtime, public holiday claims and payroll-related matters with care and accuracy.
• Compliance: Ensure HR practices align with the Malaysian Employment Act and company HR policies.
• Employee relations: Handle grievances, disciplinary matters and domestic inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Engagement and retention: Partner with Store Managers on employee engagement, retention and performance initiatives.
• Branch support: Conduct regular branch visits and provide practical, hands-on HR support across assigned outlets.
• HR improvement: Monitor HR trends and recommend improvements that respond to business needs.

Who are they looking for?

• Relevant qualification: A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field provides a strong foundation for the role.
• HR experience: At least five years of HR experience is sought, preferably in retail, supermarket, hypermarket or other high-volume operations.
• Mass recruitment expertise: Strong experience in mass recruitment and frontline workforce management will support the business's workforce needs.
• Employment law knowledge: Good knowledge of the Malaysian Employment Act and employee relations will support fair and compliant HR practices.
• Communication skills: Strong English and Bahasa Malaysia communication skills are important for liaising with store-level employees, Store Managers and stakeholders.
• Mandarin advantage: Mandarin-speaking ability is an added advantage for communication with store-level employees and stakeholders.
• Mobility: Own transport and willingness to travel across assigned branches are required for regular branch visits and hands-on HR support.
• Working approach: A hands-on, resilient approach suits the fast-paced retail environment and varied operational demands.
