ASSISTANT HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

About the role

Big Supermart Sdn Bhd is seeking an Assistant Human Resource Manager to join our dynamic HR team in Shah Alam, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting our Human Resources operations and contributing to the strategic HR objectives of the organisation. As an Assistant Manager within the HR function, you will bridge the gap between operational HR activities and senior management, ensuring that our people-related processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with business goals. This role offers the opportunity to develop your HR expertise whilst making a tangible impact on employee engagement, recruitment, and organisational development.

🗝️Key responsibilities

• Multi-Branch HR Management: Oversee human resources, employee relations, and administrative functions across a cluster of eight retail outlets, ensuring consistent HR practices and compliance.
• Mass Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead end-to-end recruitment processes for store-level positions, including Cashiers, Promoters, Store Assistants, and Supervisors, to maintain optimal staffing levels.
• Payroll & Attendance Management: Support retail payroll activities by accurately managing and verifying shift-based attendance, overtime (OT), and public holiday claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Labor Law Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to the Malaysian Employment Act and related regulations, including handling employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and domestic inquiries with professionalism and fairness.
• Employee Retention & Engagement: Work closely with Store Managers to develop and implement strategies aimed at reducing turnover through localized engagement initiatives, performance appraisals, and staff development.
• Site Visits & Employee Support: Conduct regular visits to assigned branches to address employee concerns, resolve on-site issues, and support management in maintaining a positive work environment.

📌What we're looking for

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3 to 4 years of HR experience, strictly within the retail, supermarket, hypermarket, or F&B industries.
• Skills: Good knowledge of the Malaysia Employment Act and experience handling high-volume, multi-site staff.
• Languages: Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia (ability to speak Mandarin is an added advantage for store-level communication).
• Mobility: Must possess own transport and be willing to travel across the designated branch locations.
• Attribute: Highly resilient, adaptable to fast retail changes, and comfortable with flexible retail operating hours.
