Assistant Lecturer Civil & QS

Role Description The Assistant Lecturer Civil & QS will support the delivery of academic programs in Civil Engineering and Quantity Surveying at the BCAS Campus in Kalmunai. This full-time, on-site role involves preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions aligned with the curriculum and institutional standards. The individual will assist in developing teaching materials, guiding students through coursework and projects, and providing academic counseling and mentoring. Responsibilities include assessing student performance, maintaining accurate academic records, and contributing to continuous improvement of course content and teaching methods. The Assistant Lecturer will also participate in departmental meetings, quality assurance activities, and collaborative initiatives that enhance teaching, learning, and industry engagement.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying, preferably with a bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized institution.
• Demonstrated knowledge of core Civil and QS subject areas (e.g., construction technology, structural analysis, estimation and costing, contract administration, project management).
• Ability to design and deliver engaging lectures and tutorials, with sound lesson planning and assessment skills.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to learners with varied academic levels.
• Competence in using educational technologies and standard software tools (e.g., MS Office, learning management systems; exposure to relevant CAD or QS software is an advantage).
• Strong student-centered approach, including mentoring, guidance, and support for academic and professional development.
• Organizational and time-management skills to handle teaching loads, assessment deadlines, and administrative tasks.
• Commitment to continuous professional development, teamwork, and adherence to institutional quality assurance and ethical standards.
• Prior teaching, tutoring, or industry experience in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying is an added advantage.
