We are looking for a motivated and organised Assistant Logistics Manager to join our Quest Logistics team at West Horndon.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in transport or logistics who is looking to develop their management skills while supporting the delivery of specialist medical transport operations.

The Role

Working closely with the Logistics Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of our specialist HGV operations, helping coordinate deliveries, manage driver schedules, maintain compliance and ensure our fleet operates safely and efficiently.

You will gain an understanding of the specialist nature of our medical logistics operations, working with drivers, customers and internal departments to maintain high standards of service, safety and compliance.

The role will also involve supporting out-of-hours operations as part of an on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning, routing and scheduling of deliveries, ensuring safe and timely transport of specialist medical equipment.
• Support the day-to-day management of HGV operations, including driver allocation, fleet maintenance, vehicle checks and breakdown coordination.
• Help ensure compliance with company procedures, DVSA requirements and health and safety regulations, maintaining accurate driver, vehicle and asset records.
• Support stock control, operational systems and the preparation of reports covering delivery performance, KPIs and compliance.
• Liaise with customers, drivers and internal teams to coordinate logistics requirements, provide delivery updates and resolve operational issues.
• Support driver recruitment, training and performance monitoring, and participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience in transport, logistics or supply chain operations, ideally within an HGV environment.
• Has a good understanding of HGV operations and driver regulations.
• Has strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Communicates confidently with drivers, customers and colleagues.
• Is comfortable using transport management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office.
• Can prioritise workloads and remain calm when dealing with operational challenges.
• Takes a proactive approach to problem-solving and can work on their own initiative.
• Is flexible and willing to support out-of-hours operations as part of an on-call rota.
• Is motivated to develop their skills and progress within logistics management.

A valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification would be desirable.
