Assistant Maintenance Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to join the team at St. Giles Southkey Johor Bahru. This is a full-time position based in Johor Bahru District, Johor. The Assistant Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance operations of our facility, ensuring that all building systems, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards. You will work closely with the Maintenance Manager to oversee day-to-day maintenance activities, coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance schedules, and manage a team of maintenance personnel. This position is essential to ensuring the safety, comfort, and operational efficiency of our property.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organising, and supervising daily maintenance operations and staff schedules
• Conduct regular inspections of building systems, equipment, and facilities to identify maintenance needs and potential issues
• Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance activities to minimise equipment downtime and extend asset life
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs, ensuring swift resolution
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment servicing
• Monitor inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment, and arrange replacements as needed
• Supervise and train maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with safety standards and established procedures
• Liaise with external contractors and vendors to coordinate specialised maintenance and repair services
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and company policies
• Prepare maintenance reports and communicate status updates to senior management

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in maintenance management or as an assistant maintenance manager in a hospitality, commercial, or property management setting
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs
• Proficiency in using maintenance management software and basic computer skills
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise multiple tasks effectively
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
• Sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to building maintenance
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
• Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in maintenance or building services (preferred)
• Ability to work flexibly, including potential emergency call-outs when required
