Assistant Maintenance Technician

Job Overview

The Maintenance Assistant supports the maintenance team in keeping the apartment community safe, clean, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include but not limited to, assisting with routine repairs and preventative maintenance, responding to resident service requests, maintaining common areas, and helping ensure apartments are ready for new residents. The ideal candidate is dependable, hands-on, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, and mechanical equipment using hand tools and schematics.
• Perform building interior maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, drywall repair, and facilities upkeep to maintain a clean and functional environment.
• Maintain plumbing systems by inspecting, repairing leaks, replacing fixtures, and ensuring proper operation of plumbing systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities equipment including HVAC systems, electrical panels, plumbing fixtures, and other building infrastructure.
• Follow schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately and execute repairs efficiently.
• Support safety protocols by adhering to electrical codes, safety standards, and proper use of tools like hand tools and electrical testing devices.

Essential Needs

• Available Full-time, Monday – Friday from 8:30AM - 5:30PM (hours may vary slightly)
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial, residential, or apartment Maintenance experience
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and/or an EPA/HVAC license
• Available for emergencies as needed and rotating on call
• Bilingual

Skills

• Proficiency in electrical work including wiring, circuit troubleshooting, and electrical equipment repair.
• Experience with HVAC system repair and building interior maintenance such as painting and carpentry.
• Skilled in plumbing system maintenance including leak repairs and fixture replacements.
• Knowledge of facilities maintenance best practices combined with excellent customer service skills for effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Experience using hand tools, ohmmeters, schematics interpretation, and basic electrical equipment repair techniques.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining safety standards. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about maintaining high standards of apartment maintenance operations through energetic engagement and technical proficiency.

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
