Assistant Manager, beer promoter

About the role

49 Seats is seeking an Assistant Manager, Beer Promoter to join our dynamic team in the Orchard Central Region. This is a full-time position that combines the operational demands of restaurant management with a passion for beer education and promotion. You will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service whilst championing our beer offerings to enhance the overall guest experience. This role is pivotal in maintaining the high standards that define 49 Seats and in driving revenue through strategic beverage promotions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day management of restaurant operations, ensuring smooth service delivery and compliance with health and safety standards
• Supervise and train waiting staff, providing guidance on service excellence and customer engagement
• Develop and implement beer promotion strategies to increase beverage sales and enhance customer awareness of our curated beer selection
• Manage inventory levels for beverages, including ordering, stock rotation and quality control
• Maintain relationships with beer suppliers and negotiate terms to optimise product range and pricing
• Monitor and analyse sales performance of beer and other beverages, identifying opportunities for growth
• Ensure all staff are knowledgeable about beer pairings, styles and brewery backgrounds to enhance recommendations to guests
• Handle customer service issues professionally and resolve complaints to maintain guest satisfaction
• Contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to explore and enjoy our beer offerings

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in hospitality management or a supervisory role within a restaurant or bar environment
• Strong knowledge of beer varieties, brewing processes, flavour profiles and regional brewing heritage
• Demonstrated passion for beer culture and the ability to communicate this enthusiasm to guests and staff
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Outstanding customer service orientation with the ability to engage guests and create memorable experiences
• Sound understanding of food and beverage operations, including stock management and cost control
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by the hospitality industry
