About the role

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for supporting the General Manager in the daily operation of the car wash. The AGM is a working leader who helps manage employees, customer service, sales, safety, cleanliness, equipment operations, and overall site performance. The AGM should be capable of running the car wash independently in the absence of the General Manager and is expected to lead by example while maintaining a high standard of customer service, operational efficiency, and employee performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with all aspects of daily car wash operations and ensure the site is fully staffed and operating efficiently
• Monitor vehicle flow and minimize customer wait times
• Ensure wash equipment and supporting systems are operating properly and conduct regular site inspections
• Lead and supervise Customer Service Attendants and other site employees, assign positions and responsibilities, and monitor performance and productivity
• Provide coaching and corrective feedback, train new employees according to company standards, and maintain a positive work environment
• Ensure every customer receives friendly and professional service, monitor satisfaction, and personally assist with complaints and difficult situations
• Lead the team in selling monthly memberships, ensure CSAs understand pricing and benefits, and monitor daily and weekly sales performance
• Ensure accurate operation of the POS system, monitor transactions, follow cash-handling procedures, and perform cash counts and register reconciliation
• Monitor the condition and operation of wash equipment, conduct routine inspections, identify equipment problems, and report issues immediately
• Enforce all company safety procedures, monitor traffic, ensure employees use required PPE, identify unsafe conditions, and respond appropriately to accidents and emergencies
• Ensure the property consistently meets company cleanliness standards across all areas including vacuum areas, wash tunnel, pay stations, restrooms, landscaping, and equipment rooms
• Monitor inventory levels of chemicals, cleaning supplies, uniforms, PPE, and other operating supplies and notify the General Manager when supplies need to be reordered
• Assist with daily operating reports, record equipment problems, review sales and membership performance, assist with employee scheduling, and maintain required operational records
• May be responsible for opening or closing the facility, including unlocking and securing the property, starting and inspecting equipment, checking chemical levels, and completing opening and closing checklists
