The role

As Assistant Manager, you will lead by example and help ensure the venue operates safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard. You will support the team, deliver excellent customer service and take responsibility for the venue when the General Manager is unavailable.

This is a varied, practical role suited to somebody who enjoys being visible on the floor, working with customers and helping a new venue grow.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete opening, closing and venue inspection procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation.
  • Ensure health and safety, fire safety and operational procedures are followed.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock control.
  • Support events, competitions, promotions and community activities.
  • Help achieve revenue, membership and customer-retention targets.
  • Build positive relationships with customers, coaches, suppliers and partners.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has supervisory or management experience in hospitality, leisure, fitness, retail or a customer-focused environment.
  • Is confident leading a team and managing a busy shift.
  • Provides excellent customer service and communicates professionally.
  • Is organised, reliable and comfortable managing several priorities.
  • Takes a proactive, hands-on approach and notices what needs to be done.
  • Can remain calm and make sensible decisions under pressure.
  • Understands the importance of health and safety and following procedures.
  • Is comfortable using booking, till and basic computer systems.
  • Is flexible and able to work mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Has an interest in padel, sport, leisure or hospitality.

Previous padel experience is welcome but not essential, as training will be provided.

Desirable qualifications and experience

  • First Aid qualification.
  • Fitness or sports-related qualification.
  • Personal licence or experience supervising alcohol sales.
  • Experience with staff rotas, stock management or cash handling.
  • Previous responsibility for opening or closing a venue.

What we offer

  • A varied role with genuine responsibility and development opportunities.
  • Training and support.
  • A friendly, energetic and customer-focused working environment.
