About the Role

The Shaker is one of Edinburgh’s newest and busiest late‑night party venues, high energy, loud atmosphere, fast pace, and zero room for passengers. We’re looking for an Assistant Manager who thrives in the nightlife environment, knows how to run a floor during peak chaos, and brings the kind of presence that lifts a team.

This is a hands‑on, on‑the‑floor role. You’ll lead from the front, keep the vibe high, and make sure every shift runs tight, safe, and fun. If you love late nights, loud crowds, and high‑pressure service, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Do

• Run the party: open/close the venue, control service pace, and keep the energy high.
• Lead from the floor: bar, booths, dancefloor — wherever the shift needs you.
• Support the GM & Deputy GM: handle issues, keep standards sharp, and drive the night.
• Manage the team: coach Supervisors, motivate staff, and keep everyone moving.
• Handle guest issues: stay calm, professional, and solution‑focused.
• Enforce safety & licensing: Challenge 25, incident logs, compliance, and crowd management.
• Drive sales: monitor productivity, push upselling, and keep PR active on the street.
• Admin support: cash‑ups, stock counts, rota input, and operational tasks.

What You Bring

• Experience in a busy bar, nightclub, or late‑night venue.
• High energy — you enjoy the pace and intensity of nightlife.
• Pressure‑proof mindset — you stay calm when the venue is full and the night is moving fast.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Personal Licence (Scotland) — or willingness to obtain one quickly.
• Full commitment to late nights, weekends, and peak seasons (Festival, Christmas, etc.).

Desirable

• Experience with EPoS, booking systems, or rota software.
• Understanding of GP, labour, and stock control.
