Job Description (JD) Assistant Manager (Procurement)

Position: Assistant Manager Procurement
Department: Procurement / Supply Chain Management
Location: Manufacturing Plant / Corporate Office
Reporting To: Manager Procurement / Head SCM

Job Purpose

To manage procurement activities, ensure timely availability of materials and services, optimize costs, develop suppliers, and maintain smooth coordination with internal departments to support production and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials, consumables, engineering items, MRO items, capex, and services.

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost reduction and efficiency targets.

• Float RFQs, evaluate quotations, conduct techno-commercial negotiations, and finalize purchase orders.

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with existing vendors.

• Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.

• Ensure timely material availability to avoid production disruptions.

• Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Stores teams for procurement requirements.

• Track market trends, commodity prices, and supply risks to support strategic sourcing decisions.

• Maintain procurement records, contracts, and supplier databases.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and statutory regulations.

• Handle annual rate contracts (ARC), vendor agreements, and contract management.

• Prepare MIS reports and procurement performance dashboards.

• Lead supplier development and localization initiatives.

  Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech / MBA (Operations/Supply Chain) / Graduate with relevant procurement experience.

• Professional certifications in Supply Chain or Procurement will be an added advantage.

  Experience

• 8-12 years of experience in Procurement/Sourcing, preferably in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry.

• Experience in handling direct and indirect procurement.

• Exposure to SAP/ERP systems and procurement analytics.
