Are you ready to take the next step in gym management? We’re looking for an enthusiastic, commercially focused Assistant General Manager to help lead Énergie Fitness Ashford.

You’ll work alongside the General Manager to grow the membership base, support the team and deliver a club experience that keeps members coming back. This is a hands on role for someone who takes initiative, enjoys selling and follows through on commitments.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Membership sales: Generate enquiries, conduct club tours, make prospect calls and follow up leads to convert interest into memberships.
• Achieving targets: Help turn monthly sales and retention targets into clear daily actions. Know your numbers and act early when performance falls behind.
• Member retention: Build relationships, contact members whose attendance has dropped, follow up renewals and help resolve concerns before they become cancellations.
• Team leadership: Support the General Manager with coaching, onboarding, delegating tasks and maintaining consistent standards.
• Running the club: Take responsibility for day to day operations when the General Manager is absent, making decisions within your authority and escalating where necessary.
• Club standards: Keep the gym clean, welcoming and well presented. Complete opening, closing and equipment checks, report faults promptly and follow up outstanding issues.
• Local marketing: Create engaging social media content, support email campaigns and take part in local prospecting, business partnerships and referral initiatives.
• Member engagement: Help deliver challenges, events and activities that build a strong club community.
• Administration: Keep CRM records accurate, follow up overdue payments professionally and ensure membership documentation, terms and relevant waivers are completed correctly.
• Safe operations: Follow company procedures, complete required checks and act promptly on safety or security concerns.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in a sales or customer facing role, ideally within fitness, leisure, hospitality or retail.
• Some experience supervising, coaching or supporting a team, or clear evidence that you’re ready to step up.
• Confidence making calls, conducting tours, handling objections and asking for the sale.
• Strong organisation and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment.
• Personal accountability: you take ownership and complete tasks without repeated reminders.
• A friendly, professional approach and the ability to build rapport with people of different backgrounds and fitness levels.
• Confidence using CRM systems, email and social media.
• A passion for fitness, member service and continuous improvement.
• Flexibility to work the shifts required to support the club.

Previous gym experience is desirable. We also welcome applications from strong salespeople and team leaders ready to move into management.
