Role Description The Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at our American Vintage boutique in Stanford, CA. This role supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, visual merchandising, inventory management, and adherence to brand standards. The Assistant Manager leads and coaches the sales team, ensuring excellent customer service, product knowledge, and a welcoming store environment that reflects the American Vintage brand. Responsibilities include monitoring sales performance, assisting with scheduling, supporting training initiatives, and helping to implement store promotions and marketing activities. The role also involves handling customer concerns, ensuring accurate cash handling, and collaborating with management to drive store profitability and team engagement.

Qualifications

• Retail and fashion expertise: experience in apparel retail, strong interest in fashion and styling, and ability to represent the brand’s aesthetic.
• Leadership and people management: skills in supervising teams, coaching staff, motivating sales associates, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
• Customer service and communication: ability to deliver exceptional in-person service, resolve issues professionally, and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
• Operations and sales skills: experience with POS systems, cash handling, inventory management, and driving sales through KPIs and performance metrics.
• Organization and problem-solving: strong time management, attention to detail, and the capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Flexibility and reliability: willingness to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts as needed, and dependability in meeting responsibilities.
• Preferred qualifications: prior experience as a key holder or supervisor, familiarity with visual merchandising standards, and knowledge of boutique or premium fashion retail.
• Education: high school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, fashion, or related fields is an advantage.
