Assistant Manager, Group Procurement

Company Overview

We are an established trading company supplying a comprehensive range of products to the Rubber & Latex industries. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a proactive, resourceful and results-oriented individual to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations with local and overseas suppliers, focusing on competitive pricing, commercial terms, product requirements and supply sustainability.
• Provide timely sourcing and pricing support to Sales and Management, while proactively identifying opportunities, cost movements and supply risks through market intelligence and trend analysis.
• Conduct price analysis and benchmarking by evaluating supplier quotations, historical purchase prices, raw material movements, foreign exchange impact and other relevant cost drivers.
• Monitor and analyse market conditions, raw material prices, supply-demand trends and industry developments, and develop forward-looking insights and forecasts to support procurement and commercial decisions.
• Analyse purchasing patterns, inventory levels, consumption trends and sales forecasts to improve stock planning, replenishment strategies and inventory optimisation.
• Evaluate and develop the supplier base, including supplier performance, commercial competitiveness, alternative sourcing opportunities and supply risk mitigation.
• Support ERP implementation, digitalisation and process improvement initiatives, including data analysis, process review, testing and the development of more efficient procurement and supply chain workflows.
• Prepare and present procurement analysis, market intelligence and management reports, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities and recommended actions, while ensuring compliance with Company policies, procedures and ISO requirements.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Chemistry or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in procurement, sourcing or purchasing, preferably in a trading, chemical or industrial environment.
• Strong strategic sourcing, commercial negotiation and supplier management skills, with experience dealing with local and overseas suppliers.
• Strong analytical and numerical ability, with the ability to interpret pricing, market trends, cost drivers and inventory data and translate them into actionable recommendations.
• Highly responsive, proactive and self-driven, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced commercial environment.
• Open to change and continuous improvement, with an interest in digitalisation, ERP systems and developing more efficient ways of working.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin and/or Chinese dialects will be an added advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
