The role assists in leading the housekeeping team, coordinating room readiness, managing resources, and maintaining seamless collaboration with other departments within a luxury hospitality environment.

Main Duties:

  • Support the Housekeeping Manager/Director of Housekeeping in overseeing daily housekeeping operations across guest rooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Coordinate room assignments, cleaning priorities, and colleague deployment according to occupancy, arrivals, departures, VIP movements, and operational requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, suites, corridors, pantries, public areas, and service areas to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • Monitor room-cleaning progress and room status, ensuring arrival rooms, priority rooms, and VIP accommodations are inspected and released on time.
  • Lead, train, coach, and develop Housekeeping Team Leaders, Room Attendants, and other colleagues to maintain consistent performance and service standards.
  • Conduct daily briefings and communicate occupancy levels, room priorities, VIP arrivals, guest preferences, special requests, and departmental updates.
  • Coordinate closely with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, Security, and other departments regarding room readiness, maintenance concerns, linen requirements, and guest requests.
  • Ensure VIP rooms, suites, amenities, special arrangements, and personalized guest preferences are prepared accurately and within the required timelines.
  • Respond professionally to guest requests and concerns, ensuring prompt service recovery, appropriate follow-up, and escalation when necessary.
  • Monitor staffing levels, duty rosters, attendance, productivity, and overtime while ensuring efficient workforce utilization according to business demand.
  • Control linen, guest supplies, cleaning materials, operating equipment, and departmental inventories to minimize wastage and maintain required stock levels.
  • Ensure maintenance defects, damaged items, and safety concerns are accurately reported, prioritized, and followed through until completion.
  • Maintain compliance with hygiene, sanitation, chemical handling, workplace safety, security, key control, lost-and-found, and departmental procedures.
  • Support departmental budgeting and cost-control activities by monitoring expenses, productivity, inventory consumption, and resource utilization.
  • Assist with colleague performance reviews, training plans, recruitment, onboarding, and succession development to maintain an engaged and capable team.
  • Review guest feedback, inspection results, room discrepancies, and operational reports to identify trends and implement corrective or preventive improvements.
  • Ensure housekeeping pantries, linen rooms, offices, storage areas, trolleys, and back-of-house facilities remain organized, secure, and properly maintained.
  • Assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager/Director of Housekeeping and ensure uninterrupted operations across all shifts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Housekeeping Operations, Hotel Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4–5 years of relevant housekeeping experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role within a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, room inspections, public-area standards, linen management, inventory control, chemical handling, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Proven leadership experience in supervising Team Leaders and Room Attendants, with the ability to manage training, performance, productivity, scheduling, and colleague development.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication, problem-solving, and guest-relations skills, with the ability to manage escalated concerns professionally.
