Assistant Manager - Restaurant

Job Overview

We are interested in someone with some restaurant experience. The position requires someone to work mostly days watching the floor, but have flexibility as the restaurant industry requires. We define our restaurant as a casual French bistro with some formal nuances. Training for the position will be mostly evening shifts with the General Manager.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing all aspects of restaurant operations, including service flow and staff supervision
• Support staff training initiatives to ensure high standards of food safety, food handling, and customer service are maintained
• Assist with inventory control
• Ensure compliance with health regulations and food safety standards through regular monitoring and training
• Attend team and management meetings, provide coaching when needed, and ensure proper service expectations held by the restaurant, as that is one of our many prized offerings.
• Collaborate with management and keep consistent communication with other managers and department leads.

Qualifications

• Previous assistant manager or supervisory experience within the hospitality or food industry is essential
• Familiarity with restaurant POS systems
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and communicate managerial expectations clearly
• Knowledge of food safety management practices, inventory control, and food handling procedures
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
• Basic math skills for cash handling
• A background in fine dining or casual dining environments is a plus
