Assistant Manager - Restaurant

About the Role

We’re looking for an energetic, reliable, and hospitality-minded Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our team at our Charleston bagel shop.

The AGM is a key member of the leadership team and works closely with the General Manager to keep the shop running smoothly, support the team, and create an exceptional experience for our guests.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is ready to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the shop along side the General Manager.

What You’ll Do

• Support the General Manager in all aspects of daily shop operations
• Act as a leader on the floor and set the tone for the team
• Lead shifts and ensure smooth, efficient service
• Coach, train, and motivate team members
• Help create a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture
• Maintain high standards for food quality, hospitality, cleanliness, and speed of service
• Assist with scheduling and staffing needs
• Support inventory management, ordering, and minimizing waste
• Help monitor labor and other operating costs
• Handle customer questions and concerns with professionalism and care
• Ensure food safety and health standards are consistently followed
• Assist with opening and closing procedures
• Communicate operational needs and updates to the General Manager
• Step into the GM role when the General Manager is unavailable
• Jump in wherever needed — whether that means helping on the line, working the register, making coffee, or supporting the team during a busy rush

Previous leadership or management experience in a restaurant, café, bakery, or hospitality environment is preferred.

You’ll help create an environment where employees know what’s expected of them, guests feel welcomed, and the shop operates efficiently even when things get busy. You’ll be someone the GM and team can rely on to keep things moving and solve problems as they arise.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is currently a strong shift leader or supervisor and is ready to take the next step into management, as well as for an experienced restaurant manager looking for a new team and environment.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: Salary of $55,000
• [Employee meal/food discount]:

o All employees working a shift longer than 8 hours are entitled to ONE FREE shift meal and ONE free drink, all of which must be rung in and discounted before making.

· All employees will be given one (1) Holey City Bagels uniform t-shirt for free on their first day of work after successful completion of their training.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Availability should include mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on the shop's operating hours.
