About Us
Sweets & Java is a neighborhood bakery and café in Holden, now part of Red Tail Bakers. We bake with European-style “clean flour,” milled without pesticides, glyphosates, or bleaching agents. We’re building a team that cares about real food, good coffee, and treating customers like neighbors.

The Role
We’re looking for a dependable, upbeat Assistant Manager to support our Café Manager in running day-to-day operations. You’ll lead shifts, keep the counter and kitchen running smoothly, and help create a café people want to come back to.

What You’ll Do

• Open and close the café, including cash handling, deposits, and end-of-day reports
• Lead and coach baristas and front-of-house staff during shifts
• Deliver friendly, efficient customer service and resolve customer concerns
• Help with scheduling, training new hires, and keeping shifts covered
• Monitor inventory, place orders, and receive deliveries
• Maintain food safety, cleanliness, and display standards
• Step in on the line, register, or espresso bar whenever needed
• Run the café when the Café Manager is off

What We’re Looking For

• 1–2 years of experience in food service, coffee, retail, or hospitality; shift lead or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and a calm, positive attitude under pressure
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable taking ownership
• Availability for early mornings and weekends
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• ServSafe certification a plus (or willingness to obtain it)
