What they need
Restaurant Manager — Upscale Japanese Izakaya, Yakitori & Omakase
Sushi 37 / Go Fish
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: 75K & up
About the Opportunity
Sushi 37 / Go Fish is seeking a hands-on Restaurant Manager for our upscale Japanese dining concept, bringing together the lively atmosphere of an izakaya, the craftsmanship of yakitori and the personal experience of omakase.
We are looking for someone who enjoys being on the floor, developing a strong team and making guests feel genuinely cared for. You should be equally comfortable leading a pre-shift meeting, coordinating service with the chef and resolving a guest concern with confidence and discretion.
Your Role
You will lead daily front-of-house operations and work closely with the culinary team and ownership to deliver attentive, well-paced service.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead service on the floor, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere and consistent hospitality standards.
- Hire, train, coach and hold team members accountable.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings covering reservations, menu knowledge, special requests and service priorities.
- Manage scheduling, staffing levels and labor costs.
- Coordinate reservations, seating, course pacing and table turnover without rushing guests.
- Support smooth service across izakaya dining, yakitori offerings and omakase experiences.
- Develop the team’s knowledge of Japanese food, sake, cocktails and wine.
- Address guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, cleanliness and operational readiness.
- Monitor inventory, ordering and waste within your areas of responsibility.
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen, bar and leadership team.
- Follow company procedures and implement direction consistently.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous restaurant management or supervisory experience in an upscale, high-volume or service-focused restaurant.
- Strong floor presence, sound judgment and a calm approach during busy service.
- Proven ability to train staff, give constructive feedback and build accountability.
- Working knowledge of scheduling, labor management, POS systems and reservation platforms.
- Attention to detail in presentation, cleanliness and guest service.
- A willingness to learn, follow established standards and contribute practical improvements.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Experience with Japanese dining, izakaya, yakitori, sushi or omakase is preferred. Familiarity with sake and Japanese spirits is a plus.
The Right Fit
You lead by example and step in where needed. You notice when a guest needs attention, when a server needs support and when the kitchen needs clearer communication. You take ownership of problems and follow through on solutions.
You understand that excellent service comes from preparation, teamwork and consistent execution.
