• Available to attend employee orientation in-person. New hire orientation will include hands-on training for barista station, cashiering, stocking shelves, washing and packing produce, plus an overview of our company perks, policies, and expectations.

• We’re a farm: All positions require physical demands including: standing/walking for long periods of time over uneven surfaces; exposure to heat, cold, or wet environments, working in and outdoors with exposure to the elements, repetitive motion such as lifting, kneeling, or bending; and carrying up to 50lbs at a time, with or without assistance.

• Assistant Market Manager

  Job Description:

  Amber Waves is seeking a full time year-round candidate to join our market team. The Assistant Retail Manager will support daily retail operations while leading and motivating a team of market associates, baristas, porters, and runners at our Amagansett and East Hampton locations. This position works closely with the management team to ensure a welcoming customer experience, a beautifully stocked and merchandised sales floor, and smooth day-to-day operations throughout the market. The ideal candidate is an organized and approachable leader with strong customer service skills, attention to detail, the ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

  Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly and approachable customer service to those with questions regarding produce.
  • Support the retail team by checking out customers in a courteous and efficient manner as needed.
  • Supervising all front-of-the house positions including market associates, baristas, porters, runners.
  • Works with management team to accomplish daily goals and ensure operational standards are met
  • Builds out merchandising displays complete with signage
  • Ensures price integrity for retail items both at the shelf tag and within the point of sale system.
  • Manages issues relating to store maintenance, cleanliness, safety and sanitation
  • Maintains positive working relationships with direct reports, peers, supervisors, suppliers, and customers effectively handling complex or difficult situations involving others
  • Motivates others to perform the job and work towards common objectives and serves as a role model to others instilling a positive attitude in team members
  • Responsible for dealing with emergencies, crises, and any problems that arise during the day in the store
  • Responsible for ensuring dates on merchandise such as dairy products, meats, or baked goods are checked and expired food pulled off the shelves on a regular basis pursuant to our procedures.
  • Manages the inventory, stocking and ordering of assigned products, including cheese, wine, meat and bread.

  Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ year retail management experience
  • Degree in business, management, marketing, retailing, communications, advertising, liberal arts, or related field preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential
  • Strong orientation to detail and analytical skills
  • Solid problem solving skills and decisiveness
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as a seasonal business dictates
  • Proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Organization and planning skills
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to delegate effectively

  Physical Requirements:

  • Fast paced working environment
  • Lift moderately heavy loads up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to push/pull heavy loads

  Work Schedule and Compensation:

  • $24-28/hr, DOE
