Assistant Mechanic

VACANCY: ASSISTANT MECHANICS – 3 POSTS

Project Reports To: Mechanic

Intertrading Africa (Pty) Ltd invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the positions of Assistant Mechanic (Yellow Plant).

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with servicing, maintenance and repairs of yellow plant, including graders, excavators, TLBs, loaders, rollers, bulldozers and water trucks.
• Conduct daily inspections and report mechanical defects and potential breakdowns. Assist with breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on site.
• Check and maintain engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant and other fluids. Assist with greasing, changing filters, hoses, belts and other components.
• Maintain tools, equipment and a clean, safe workshop. Complete maintenance checklists and report work performed.
• Comply with all company, project and health and safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric preferred.
• Mechanical qualification or relevant technical training advantageous.
• Previous experience assisting a Mechanic, preferably on yellow plant/heavy construction equipment.
• Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and mechanical systems.
• Valid driver's licence advantageous.
• Ability to work on construction sites and respond to plant breakdowns when required.
