Assistant Operations Manager

About the role

Marland Mushrooms is looking for a hands-on, solution focused Assistant Operations Manager to join our team and help keep our operation running at its best.

This is a key leadership role for someone who can lead people, support the team and keep operations moving — with the confidence to step up and cover the Operations Manager as required.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the Operations Manager and wider leadership team

• Lead, our operational teams, alongside the Operations Manager, to achieve daily operational goals

• Drive a positive, productive and accountable workplace culture

• Support day-to-day operations, ensuring quality, safety and efficiency remain front of mind

• Assist with planning, problem-solving and continuous improvement

• Monitor performance and help teams stay on track

• Step into the Operations Manager role as required, providing confident leadership and decision-making

About you

• Experience in a similar role with strong people management and leadership skills

• A hands-on, practical approach to operations

• The ability to coach, motivate and support a diverse team

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• Strong organisation and problem-solving ability

• Confidence making decisions and taking ownership

• The ability to remain calm and effective in an environment that changes at speed

• Previous experience in operations, production, manufacturing, agriculture or a similar environment is highly regarded
