Assistant Operator

Job Summary

The Assistant Operator is a part-time position dedicated to supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the District’s drinking water and wastewater systems. This role involves assisting the Lead Operator with routine field work, system monitoring, maintenance tasks, physical labor, customer service activities, recordkeeping, and emergency response efforts. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, eager to learn about water and sewer operations, and committed to maintaining high safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Operator in daily operational activities of water and wastewater systems
• Perform routine monitoring of system performance and record data accurately
• Conduct maintenance tasks on equipment and infrastructure as assigned
• Engage in physical labor including cleaning, repairs, and installation work
• Provide customer service in the field by addressing inquiries or issues related to water and sewer services
• Assist with emergency response efforts to ensure safety and system integrity
• Maintain detailed records of work performed, system conditions, and maintenance activities
• Follow safety protocols and operational procedures at all times to ensure a secure working environment

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
