BROADMOOR | CAREER OPPORTUNITY

ASSISTANT PRECONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Metairie, LA

Build Your Career with an Employee-Owned Company

Founded in 1973 as an expansion of Boh Bros. Construction, one of Louisiana's largest civil contractors, Broadmoor has built its reputation on three enduring principles: the importance of our people, pride in our projects and accomplishments, and the value of a satisfied customer. These principles guide our decisions and support our core purpose: To Honorably Serve Our Communities.

Broadmoor is an employee-owned company through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Our ownership culture gives employees a meaningful connection to the company's long-term success and reinforces the teamwork, accountability, and shared purpose behind our work.

Position Summary

The Assistant Preconstruction Manager develops conceptual, negotiated, and competitive-bid estimates and works closely with Project Management, support teams, clients, designers, and trade partners to produce precise, well-supported budgets. The position reports to Broadmoor's Director of Preconstruction and may provide direction to interns or other supporting personnel as needed.

FLSA classification: Exempt.

What You Will Do

Estimate and forecast - Assist in forecasting the cost, size, scope, and duration of future construction projects.

Plan project approach - Partner with Project Management to develop initial sequencing and identify labor, material, and equipment requirements.

Perform quantity surveys - Read and interpret construction drawings, prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, and assemble bid packages for subcontractor pricing and contract development.

Build project budgets - Develop detailed estimate spreadsheets and support the transfer of approved budgets into project-management systems.

Analyze bids and support buyout - Evaluate subcontractor proposals, identify scope gaps, compare pricing, and assist with project buyout.

Qualifications

Education - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience - Two or more years of professional experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry, preferably with a general contractor or subcontractor.

Estimating knowledge - Ability to read construction documents, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, analyze subcontractor bids, and develop clear, accurate estimates.

Technology - Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, plus proficiency with relevant estimating and document-review tools. Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Acrobat is valued.

Communication and organization - Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and collaborate effectively.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. The role regularly involves sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, using a computer, and occasionally lifting or moving office equipment up to 20 pounds. Most work is performed in an office environment during normal business hours, with visits to jobsites and related travel as needed.
