Assistant Production Engineer

About the role

Assistant Production Engineer position in the Production Department, reporting to the Production Engineer.

The role encompasses design review and quality assurance, technical support to team members, production oversight, procurement management, supplier evaluation, and process improvement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform design reviews and checking of drawings to ensure quality standards are met
• Provide technical assistance to other team members to complete all required engineering tasks
• Oversee all production activities and liaise with customers, suppliers, and relevant authorities
• Oversee and evaluate the production process and make changes to improve quality and efficiency
• Manage all Procurement activities to achieve material savings and Quality, Cost & Delivery targets with suppliers
• Manage raw material supply lead-time to ensure customer OTIF (On Time in Full Delivery) is met
• Analyze procurement demand and market to achieve procurement cost control objectives
• Prepare product documentation and update procedures applicable to the department
• Develop Standard Operation Procedures for all production processes
• Develop Maintenance Plans for all equipment and infrastructure and ensure maintenance activities are carried out according to schedule
• Liaise with Production Engineer on stock control and procedures including monitoring stock levels, overseeing the input of data and information required for accurate financial reporting and reviewing the stores efficiency.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

• Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production-related environment
• Proficiency in Engineering Software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Altium Designer or similar tools
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM), schematic diagrams, and technical specifications
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and able to work under pressure to meet production schedules
• Willing to work overtime when required to support production needs
