Assistant Production Supervisor

A Production Supervisor in a ceramic manufacturing industry is responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring products meet quality standards, managing workers, and achieving production targets efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise production operators and technicians on the manufacturing floor.

• Monitor ceramic production processes such as:

  • Decal
  • Raw material preparation
  • Mixing and batching
  • Forming/shaping (pressing, casting, extrusion)
  • Drying
  • Glazing
  • Kiln firing
  • Inspection and packaging

• Ensure production schedules and output targets are met.

• Maintain product quality according to specifications.

• Implement and enforce safety procedures and workplace regulations.

• Coordinate with quality control, maintenance, warehouse, and planning departments.

• Analyze production data and prepare reports.

• Troubleshoot production issues and minimize downtime.

• Train and develop production staff.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of ceramic manufacturing processes and kiln operations.
• Leadership and team management abilities.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Understanding of quality systems and continuous improvement methods.
• Familiarity with manufacturing KPIs such as productivity, yield, scrap rate, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
• Ability to use ERP/MRP systems and production reporting tools.

Typical Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of manufacturing experience, often with prior experience as a line leader, senior technician, or assistant supervisor.
