Assistant Project Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Project Engineer supports the Customer Project Manager in delivering ASRS and software implementation projects — from contract signing through installation, commissioning, go-live, and handover to support. You'll be the person who keeps schedules, documentation, and cross-team coordination running smoothly, so that projects hit their milestones and customers stay informed and confident. This is a hands-on coordination role suited to someone organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across engineering teams, vendors, and customers at the same time.

Key responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end delivery of Matrix ASRS + WMS/WCS projects, from kickoff to handover.
• Maintain project schedules, track progress against milestones, and flag slippage early.
• Coordinate across internal engineering teams (WCS, WMS, Matrix Management System, Embedded), Production, and installation crews to keep deliverables on track.
• Help align delivery milestones with commercial/billing milestones (e.g. 30/60/10 stages) so invoicing and progress stay in sync.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation: project plans, site-readiness checklists, meeting minutes, RAID logs (risks, actions, issues, decisions), commissioning reports, and handover packs.
• Keep project records and trackers up to date in company systems (e.g. Lark).
• Consolidate status updates into clear reports for the Customer PM and management.
• Act as a day-to-day point of contact for customers on site readiness, installation logistics, scheduling, UAT, and training.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers on deliveries, and support procurement follow-ups (PO status, delivery timing) as needed.
• Support on-site commissioning, testing, and go-live activities.

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain / Logistics, Project Management, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in project coordination or project management — ideally in automation, systems integration, warehousing/logistics, manufacturing, or M&E/construction.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams.
• Clear written and verbal communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Comfortable with project and productivity tools (e.g. MS Project or equivalent, Excel/Sheets, and collaboration platforms such as Lark).
• Willing and able to travel to customer sites within Malaysia (and occasionally regionally).
