Assistant Project Manager

Position summary

About the role

The Assistant Project Manager works directly with the team head on our rooftop LED signage projects, including landmark rooftop screens. You will be the team's technical eye: reviewing the structural design and government submissions prepared by our external AP/RSE, and following each project through site works to handover, so projects run safely, on time and in compliance.

Key duties and responsibilities

Rooftop project support

• Assist the team head in managing rooftop and outdoor LED signage projects end to end: site survey, design review, installation, testing, handover and ongoing upkeep

• Prepare project program, presentation deck, progress reports, risk logs for the team head and clients

• Assist the team head with project works: prepare meeting agendas and minutes, follow up on actions, and keep a well-organized project record system

• Follow up de-rusting and repainting works on existing rooftop signage under warranty with contractors: inspection, scope and quotation, site supervision and completion records

Technical review and compliance

• Review structural drawings, calculations and submission documents prepared by external AP/RSE, and give comments on structural and buildability issues

• Check that designs and site works meet building and outdoor signboard regulations

• Follow up with external AP/RSE on submission progress and keep the team head informed

• Keep approval records, certificates and completion documents on file

AP/RSE, contractor and client coordination

• Act as the key technical contact with AP/RSE, registered contractors, clients and building management; work with the Registered General Building Contractor (RGBC) to coordinate works consent, rooftop access and site arrangements with building management

• Review shop drawings, structural drawings and calculations for buildability and compliance

• Arrange periodic structural inspections and follow up on AP/RSE comments until close-out

• Supervise contractors on site; check workmanship, safety and quality

Cost and administration

• Assist with tenders, quotations, variation orders and cost control

• Take on ad hoc projects as assigned by the team head

Requirements

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline

• 3–6 years of relevant experience, e.g. as an AP/RSE coordinator, assistant engineer or project engineer with a consultant, contractor or signage company

• Good understanding of government submission procedures, e.g. Buildings Department minor works and the Signboard Validation Scheme; experience working with AP/RSE is preferred

• Good knowledge of RSE requirements, structural principles and outdoor signboard regulations

• Able to read structural drawings and calculations and give technical comments; AutoCAD knowledge preferred

• Able to work independently and support a senior manager closely; strong coordination and communication skills

• Required to visit sites and rooftops from time to time, and to work outside office hours when needed

• Proficient in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)

• Immediate availability is highly preferred
