Assistant Project Manager (Construction)

About the role

Boon Boon Builder Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (Construction) to join our dynamic team in Sibu, Sarawak. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to develop your project management expertise within the construction industry. As Assistant Project Manager, you will play a crucial supporting role in the successful delivery of our construction projects, working closely with senior project managers and site teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position is instrumental in maintaining operational efficiency and contributing to the company's reputation for excellence in construction project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of construction projects from initiation through to completion
• Monitor project progress, timelines and budgets, ensuring adherence to project schedules and financial controls
• Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including reports, drawings, specifications and correspondence
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure smooth project operations
• Conduct site inspections and quality audits to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards
• Support the senior project manager in managing project risks, issues and changes
• Assist in procurement activities, including obtaining quotations, evaluating suppliers and managing material deliveries
• Maintain accurate records of project costs, variations and contractual matters
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide project updates and address concerns
• Support the preparation of project proposals and tender documentation

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field
• 2-4 years of experience in construction project management or site supervision
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, methodologies and best practices
• Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Understanding of health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations and practices
• Familiarity with construction contracts and procurement processes
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
• Willingness to visit construction sites regularly and work flexible hours when required
