Assistant Project Manager (ID & Fit Out Construction)

About the role

Cheksern Young Builders Sdn Bhd is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our dynamic construction team. This is a full-time position based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, offering an exciting opportunity to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of construction projects. As Assistant Project Manager, you will work closely with senior project management staff to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is fundamental to maintaining our reputation for excellence in the construction industry and will provide you with invaluable experience in project management.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction projects from inception through to completion
• Supporting the Project Manager in monitoring project progress, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation
• Liaising with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure effective communication and project coordination
• Maintaining accurate project documentation, records, and site reports
• Conducting site inspections and monitoring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards
• Assisting in the preparation of project reports, tender documents, and contract administration
• Supporting the resolution of project issues and conflicts in a timely and professional manner
• Coordinating site meetings and preparing meeting minutes and action items
• Assisting in the management of project risks, changes, and variations
• Supporting the development and maintenance of project files and databases

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• Proven experience in construction project coordination or site management, ideally 2-3 years
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, safety regulations, and quality standards
• Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation and records
• Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges
• Valid driving license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Professional certifications such as CIDB registration or relevant safety certifications are advantageous
