What they need
Assistant Project Manager / Site Manager
Long Neck Custom Homes | [Town], CT | Full-time, on-site and office hybrid
About Us
Long Neck Custom Homes builds high-end custom residences where the details matter: complex millwork, specialty systems, and finishes selected and approved down to the last piece. We’re a small, hands-on team that cares about craftsmanship, clear communication, and delivering a home our clients are proud of.
The Role
We’re looking for an organized, hands-on builder to split their time between the job site and the office. On site, you’ll keep the work moving and the quality high. In the office, you’ll handle the paperwork, coordination, and tracking that keep a complex project on schedule and on budget. You’ll work directly with our Project Manager and Owner and take on more responsibility as you grow.
What You’ll Do
On site
- Supervise day-to-day activity and coordinate subcontractors and trades
- Walk the job daily, check work against plans, specs, and approved finishes, and flag issues early
- Maintain a punch list and follow through on deficiencies
- Verify deliveries, field measurements, and layout before work proceeds
- Enforce site safety, cleanliness, and security
- Keep daily logs and progress photos
In the office
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and selections/finish approvals
- Maintain schedules, look-aheads, and trade coordination
- Build and update takeoffs, material lists, and orders (trim, millwork, finishes, fixtures)
- Review drawings and flag conflicts between architect, designer, and trade documents
- Track budgets, purchase orders, invoices, and subcontractor pay applications
- Communicate with clients, architects, designers, vendors, and inspectors
- Assist with permitting, inspections, and closeout documentation
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of experience in residential construction, preferably custom or high-end
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, schedules, and specifications
- Strong organization, follow-through, and written communication
- Comfortable using construction software, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
- Working knowledge of residential building sequence and trades
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Able to work on active job sites, including stairs, uneven surfaces, and weather
Preferred
- Experience with Buildertrend or similar project management software
- Familiarity with Connecticut building codes and permitting
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- Experience with finish carpentry, millwork, or specialty systems (elevators, pools, wine rooms, home theaters, etc.)
- Associate’s/bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field, or equivalent experience
What Makes You a Good Fit
- You notice details others miss
- You’re equally comfortable in boots on site and at a desk
- You’re proactive, not waiting to be told what’s next
- You communicate clearly and stay calm when plans change
- You take pride in quality work
Long Neck Custom Homes is an equal opportunity employer.
I kept Buildertrend as the one named software example. I left the [Town] placeholder in the header, and Indeed will ask for the location and pay range in its own fields when you post.
