  • Prepare cost monitoring reports, forecast changes to the project budget and highlight risks and opportunities to the Commercial Manager and Project Team.
  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, design consultants and clients to resolve commercial and technical queries promptly and professionally.
  • Collate and maintain project commercial records within the Document Management System (DMS), ensuring auditability of decisions and correspondence.
  • Assist with procurement activities, obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations and supporting the negotiation of commercial terms.
  • Support risk management through preparation of contingency proposals, sensitivity analysis and identification of cost-saving measures.
  • Participate in project meetings, produce minutes, manage action logs and provide timely updates on commercial matters to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures for health & safety, quality and data security in all commercial activities on site.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Project Surveyor or similar role within construction, ideally with a main contractor or consultancy background.
  • Strong numerical ability and attention to detail, with experience preparing valuations, measurement take-offs and payment applications.
  • Good understanding of standard forms of contract, change control procedures and contractual entitlement principles.

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with colleagues, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and solutions-focused, able to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Relevant qualification in construction, surveying or commercial management (or equivalent experience) is advantageous.
