Role Summary

Manages sourcing and purchasing of interior materials, furniture, fixtures, finishes, and related services for residential, commercial, or corporate interior projects. They coordinate with design and project teams, handle vendor management, and ensure materials reach sites on time within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and purchase materials for interior projects such as plywood, laminates, hardware, glass, lighting, sanitary, electrical, and soft furnishings.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors and suppliers for interior works, furniture, and subcontracted services.
• Obtain quotations (RFQs), prepare comparative statements, and negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery conditions.
• Raise and process purchase orders, follow up with suppliers, and ensure timely delivery to project sites.
• Coordinate closely with designers, project managers, and site engineers to understand material specifications, BOQs, and project timelines.
• Track and maintain inventory levels; avoid material shortages or surplus at sites and warehouse.
• Maintain all purchasing documentation: PO, GRN, invoices, contracts, and vendor records; support audits when needed.
• Monitor supplier performance on quality, delivery, and service; resolve issues related to delays, damages, or quality deviations.
• Conduct regular market research for new materials, finishes, and vendors and update price databases.
• Support cost control initiatives by comparing rates, optimizing procurement, and preventing wastage.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of interior materials, finishes, and basic construction items.
• Good negotiation and communication skills for dealing with vendors and internal teams.
• Ability to read and understand BOQs, drawings, and material specifications (basic level).
• Proficiency in Excel and procurement / ERP software for tracking orders and records.
• Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Attention to detail in documentation, pricing, and quality checking.

Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate in any discipline; preference for commerce, business, or supply chain related degrees.
• 5-10 years of experience in purchasing or procurement; experience in interior design, construction, or fitout industry is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with local markets for interior materials (especially useful for roles in cities like Delhi, NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, etc.).
