Assistant R&D Manager

About the role

Assistant R&D Manager role focused on innovative medical devices development. Convert prototype designs to design for manufacturing, develop SOPs, and assist surgical robotic system development.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for negotiation with supplier for converting to design for manufacturing, verification planning and development.
• Convert prototype designs into Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) standards.
• Establish, review, and oversee comprehensive verification planning, protocol development, test plans, and functional/technical specifications for robotic systems.
• Support overall robotics system development by optimizing surgical instrument designs, fabrication processes, and mechanical setups.
• Provide high-level technical execution and cross-functional coordination for experimental set-ups and product trials.
• Oversee vendor negotiations, perform technical site examinations, and manage solution sourcing for specialized surgical components.
• Identifying complex technical issues with the team, performing root cause analysis, and implementing scalable engineering solutions.
• Prepare mechanical and industrial drawings.
• Support any other adhoc tasks assigned by team lead.

About you

• Master or above degree in engineering or in related discipline.
• Proficient in SOLIDWORKS, KeyShot, and medical device design workflows.
• Proven experience in medical device R&D, design verification, solution sourcing, and procurement strategies.
• Knowledge in relevant industry standards and regulatory compliance is a plus.
• Responsible, independent with strong problem-solving skills.
• Team spirit and ability to work under pressure.
• Innovative and research minds are preferred.
• Frequent travel is required.
