Assistant Restaurant Manager

The Flying Biscuit Cafe is seeking a dependable and organized Assistant Restaurant Manager to support daily café and restaurant operations and assist with leading the service team. This role involves coordinating staff, supporting guest service, maintaining food and beverage standards, monitoring supplies, and helping ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout each shift. The ideal candidate has strong communication and leadership skills and is comfortable working in a busy café environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily café and restaurant operations and guest-service activities.
• Support the Restaurant Manager with staff coordination and shift workflow.
• Help assign team responsibilities and communicate operational priorities.
• Guide and support servers, kitchen staff, and café team members during busy periods.
• Monitor food quality, order accuracy, cleanliness, and customer-service standards.
• Assist with employee training, onboarding, and day-to-day coaching.
• Handle routine guest questions, requests, and service concerns professionally.
• Support POS operations and routine cash-handling procedures.
• Monitor food, beverage, packaging, and restaurant supply levels.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, organizing, and restocking supplies.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked dining, kitchen, and service areas.
• Support opening and closing procedures and daily operational checklists.
• Help maintain efficient guest and order flow during busy service periods.
• Communicate staffing, supply, and operational needs to the Restaurant Manager.
• Follow food-safety, sanitation, workplace, and company procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, café, hospitality, or food-service experience.
• Previous supervisory, shift-lead, or management experience is preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and customer-service skills.
• Dependable, organized, and comfortable taking responsibility.
• Able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced café and restaurant environment.
• Good attention to food quality, cleanliness, and service details.
• Familiarity with POS systems, inventory procedures, and restaurant operations is helpful.
• Able to support, train, and work effectively with a team.
• Professional and respectful approach to guests and coworkers.

Pay: $52,700.00 - $63,600.00 per year
